Subject: fair and affordable housing curriculum
I’m a volunteer researcher with EducatorLabs. We recently received a request from a teacher in Milwaukee, who is designing an extensive lesson on living with a disability. She asked for our help in gathering resources related to part of this project: disability and discrimination in housing.
Our research work has turned up a large number of fantastic fair housing resources (like the ones listed here on your site: http://www.luxuryhomesintl.com/consumer-resource-links.html -- thank you!). Are there any other websites you’d recommend? I’d be happy to hop on the phone if you’d prefer to share that way!
We’ve found several lesser-known fair housing and disability resources below - they could make nice additions to your site for your other visitors, so I thought I’d share in hopes of making a difference for them:
Title VIII: Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity
Fair and Affordable Housing: The Activist's Blueprint for Action
Home Modifications - Funding Sources
Disability Home Accommodation Cost Guide
Fire Safety & Disabilities Guide
Benefits for People with Disabilities
Medicare and Social Security Disability: Benefits for Disabled Individuals
American Association on Health and Disability
Local Doctor Finder: Search by Disability
I would love to be able to tell the rest of the research team that you added some (or all!) of these to your site - please let me know if you do so I can show them how their efforts have benefited the internet at large.
If you’d like to see the entire list of resources we gather for teachers, please let me know. We’d love to share them with you.
Thank you for the gift of your time!
